APJ ABDUL KALAM

Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, often referred to as the "Missile Man of India," was a distinguished Indian scientist and the 11th President of India, serving from 2002 to 2007. Born on October 15, 1931, in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, Kalam played a pivotal role in India's civilian space program and military missile development efforts, which earned him the nickname.

He was instrumental in the development of ballistic missile technology and the launch vehicle technology for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Kalam was also a key figure in India's Pokhran-II nuclear tests in 1998, which established India as a nuclear power.

Beyond his scientific achievements, Dr. Kalam was a beloved teacher, author, and motivational speaker. He authored several books, with "Wings of Fire," his autobiography, being one of the most popular. He was known for his deep commitment to education and inspiring youth, often encouraging them to dream big and work hard to achieve their goals.

Dr. Kalam passed away on July 27, 2015, while delivering a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management Shillong. His legacy continues to inspire millions across India and the world.
